The Summit 14002 is a member of the Summit family of LAN switches designed to meet the requirements emerging in your intranet and Internet applications. Extreme Networks Summit switches share a common non-blocking switch architecture that provides scalability in four areas: speed bandwidth network size and quality of service (QoS).
Six Gigabit Ethernet ports and 16 10/100 Mbps auto-negotiating Ethernet ports are featured with the Summit4. These Extreme Networks switches delivers an integrated server switching solution with a unique mix of ports that can be load-shared or trunked to match network bandwidth with server performance.
Summit4 can integrate server farms into the enterprise network with integrated routing. And with ExtremeWares Policy-Based Quality of Service Summit4 delivers bandwidth management and control over server traffic regardless of server type or location.
The port density fault tolerance and performance of Summit4 14002 scale dramatically with the Summit Virtual Chassis™ a high-speed external backplane that interconnects up to eight stacked or distributed Summit switches into one system. Connected to a Virtual Chassis SummitLink™ port Summit switches combine the flexibility and low entry-cost of a stackable with the fault tolerance and high port-density of a modular system. Each Summit system is pre-installed with ExtremeWare™ a standards-based software suite that delivers in the ability to manage and control bandwidth on a network. ExtremeWare combines standards with advanced features to deliver Policy-Based QoS that includes bandwidth reservation IP routing IP multicast control and VLAN switching. Policy-Based QoS lets network managers prioritize and allocate bandwidth to many different types of network traffic - right down to the TCP/UDP session and without significant performance penalty.
